If you've always wanted the internet on your 3D TV, this product will provide you with that access. The Panasonic TC-P42GT25 is a net TV that has 3D capabilities. While the apps are limited, you'll still have access to some of the most popular internet apps. This internet TV is unique to the other internet ready TVs because this one has a plasma screen.
This is the only internet ready TV we reviewed that did not come Wi-Fi ready. It has the capacity to be Wi-Fi ready, but it requires an adapter. If you prefer, you can connect your internet connection through the Ethernet cable. The Panasonic TC-P42GT25 comes with ten apps: Amazon, Bloomberg, Fox Sports, Netflix, Pandora, Picasa, Skype1, Twitter, Weather and YouTube. This internet TV doesn't have a full browser, so you'll be limited to the preinstalled apps. Additionally, Panasonic doesn't have an app store.
This 3D internet TV has a plasma screen. This is why the refresh rate is so much higher than all the other TVs we reviewed, with 600Hz. Plasma TVs often have more glare from ambient light, but they also show deeper blacks and lighter lights, as evidenced in the dynamic contrast ratio of 5,000,000:1. The Panasonic TC-P42GT25 has a standard HDTV resolution of 1920 x 1080p, and runs at 24 frames per second.
This internet ready TV uses on average 99 watts and is Energy Star approved. The Panasonic TC-P42GT25 has two 10-watt speakers. The connections for this internet TV include two composite inputs, two component inputs, three HDMI inputs, 2 USB ports, one PC input, one Ethernet/LAN connection, one digital audio out and an SD card slot. The LAN connection allows you to access information from any electronics that are part of your local area network.
Unfortunately, this 42-inch 3D internet TV doesn't come with the 3D glasses. For the 3D technology to work, you'll need to wear 3D glasses. You can purchase them individually.
You can't conduct a search from your Panasonic TC-P42GT25 that will search your LAN, TV and internet apps at the same time. You'll have to search each separately. Additionally, you can only perform one function at a time on the Panasonic TC-P42GT25, meaning that if you want to watch the TV, you can't have an internet app open at the same time. The TV remote for this internet TV is similar to a basic TV remote; it has little functionality that makes browsing the internet apps more convenient.
Panasonic offers online chat support, an email address and a telephone number to help answer your questions about their internet TV. Panasonic TC-P42GT25 gives you internet on your TV, as well as access to 3D technology. Since they aren't included with the TV you'll have to purchase the 3D glasses separately. The internet apps are limited to 10; however, they include some of the more popular apps available. Unfortunately, Panasonic doesn't have an app store to supply you with those apps more catered to niche audiences.
